At Lowcountry Academic Consulting, our Homework Hours program is designed to provide structured, consistent academic support for students at every stage of their educational journey—from elementary through college. We recognize that many students benefit from a calm, encouraging environment where they can focus on completing homework, reviewing concepts, asking questions, and building strong study habits. That’s why we’ve created Homework Hours as a dedicated time and space for students to stay on track academically, strengthen their understanding of classroom material, and grow in both confidence and independence.
Unlike drop-in programs or unsupervised after-school care, Homework Hours are not childcare. Each session is led by qualified academic consultants who provide guidance, redirection, and skill-building strategies tailored to students’ needs and grade levels. We group students by academic stage—elementary, middle, high school, or college—ensuring that instruction and support are age-appropriate and aligned with the academic expectations for that level.
Sessions are designed to be focused, productive, and purposeful. Whether a student needs help getting organized, clarification on a tricky assignment, or a quiet place with accountability to complete their work, Homework Hours provide a reliable solution. Our goal is to support students not just in finishing assignments, but in developing the tools and confidence they need to succeed in school and beyond.

Homework Hours are structured, small-group academic support sessions offered Monday–Thursday for students in elementary school through college. These sessions are designed to help students complete homework, strengthen academic skills, and build confidence in a quiet, supportive environment guided by trained academic consultants.
Homework Hours are not the same as private tutoring or group classes. These are drop-in-style academic support sessions (by appointment) where students work independently with guidance available as needed. For targeted instruction in a specific subject, we recommend booking a one-on-one academic coaching session.
We maintain a structured small-group environment to ensure students receive the attention they need. Sessions may include up to 10 students. This allows our trained consultants to provide meaningful academic support, answer questions, and help each student stay focused and productive throughout the session.
Yes. All students must schedule their sessions in advance. Walk-ins are not permitted to ensure we can maintain low student-to-consultant ratios and provide the best experience possible.
Students should arrive prepared with all necessary materials, including homework assignments, textbooks, laptops (if needed), and any other academic tools. If a student doesn’t have assigned work, we can provide supplemental materials for skill-building.
There is no penalty for missed sessions, but space is limited and we encourage families to cancel or reschedule if a student can’t attend so another student may take the slot.
Yes—parents are always welcome and encouraged to be involved in their student’s academic journey. We value strong family engagement and believe it plays an important role in student success.
However, please note that seating is limited in our Homework Hour space. If you’d like to stay during your child’s session, we kindly ask that you let us know in advance so we can ensure there’s room available without disrupting the learning environment.
Parents are also welcome to check in briefly at drop-off or pick-up to discuss progress or ask questions. For more in-depth conversations, we’re happy to schedule a separate time to connect.
Yes! Many families use both services. Homework Hours are a great supplement to one-on-one academic coaching for students who need both daily homework support and focused instruction in specific subjects.
Please Read Before Booking
Attendance
Students may only attend during their assigned hour based on grade level. Lowcountry Academic Consulting is not responsible for students before or after their assigned Homework Hour session. The responsibility for student drop-off, pick-up, and any unsupervised time outside of the scheduled hour rests solely with parents or guardians. LAC does not monitor students arriving early or leaving late; please plan accordingly.
Scheduling & Availability
All sessions require an advance reservation. While some memberships allow unlimited session access each week, attendance is subject to consultant availability and space limitations. Reserving your student’s spot ahead of time is required to ensure a seat. Upon purchasing a membership, we highly recommend reaching out to book your preferred day(s) each week. If you require any specific day(s), please reach out to us before purchasing a membership to ensure availability.
Closures & Cancellations
Homework Hours will not be held on major holidays, during inclement weather, or on days Lowcountry Academic Consulting is closed.
We reserve the right to modify the Homework Hour schedule as needed. Notice of any cancellations, changes, or closures will be provided in advance when possible via email and/or Text. Whenever possible, we aim to follow the Charleston County School District’s schedule for holidays and closures for Elementary-High School Homework Hours and College of Charleston's Schedule for College Homework Hours.
This program is not a childcare service. Homework Hours provide structured academic support in a small-group setting. Students are expected to arrive prepared to work on assignments, study, or reinforce academic skills with the support of a consultant.
Behavior Expectations
Homework Hours are designed to be a focused, respectful, and productive academic environment. Students are expected to:
- Arrive prepared to work on assignments, study, or reinforce academic skills with the support of a consultant.
- Demonstrate respectful behavior toward consultants, peers, and the learning space at all times.
- Remain engaged in academic tasks throughout the session, as Homework Hours are not social or recreational time.
Disruptive or disrespectful behavior may result in redirection, removal from the session, or suspension from Homework Hours. Continued concerns will be communicated to families and may affect ongoing participation in the program.

Purchasing a membership does not guarantee the availability of a specific consultant or reserve a particular day for a client. Memberships are to be redeemed through the booking process. Once a Membership is purchased, please reach out to reserve your preferred day(s). Session availability is subject to change and may be limited due to fully booked schedules, school holidays, or other closures. We recommend booking in advance to secure your preferred time. Lowcountry Academic Consulting is not responsible for missed opportunities to book due to scheduling limitations or calendar closures. All membership sales are final. No refunds will be issued.
